Let’s Get it On

Since winter can be a chilly time of year (for most of you), I’ve made available for download from SoundCloud my acoustic cover of Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get it On” – so download the track, cuddle up with someone warm and you know… maybe just get it on…

Cali Love…

Well, it’s been a little while since I had mentioned that I had started work on a new album. Alot has happened in the last 2 years since the release of New Roots. My wife Kate and I have been blessed with a healthy and happy baby girl, Noelle, who will be 2 years old in June. I had played very few shows during this time until more recently, partly because of wanting to spend less time away from the hustle and grind and more time at the beach cooking out with friends and family and enjoying all the little things each day. Balancing time between my 9 to 5, family time and writing and recording a new album has been tiring at times but well worth it on all accounts. I’m excited for many big things in the coming year and have also had a growing urge to get out and perform more frequently again and really share a positive music and message that I feel people need now more than ever.

Cali Love is the name of the new full length album and I’m very excitied to be working with some old friends fromIMG_2455 previous works as well as some brand new faces that will definitely add an edge to the new tunes. I’m once again teaming up with my good friend Andrew Mencher of Wisdom and Sound to craft this new set of 17 tunes. He has been as instrumental in this undertaking as he was on New Roots. We also used Capricorn Studio in downtown San Diego again to record much of the drum tracking. This time around I’m recording most of the album in my home studio and have the pleasure of having several great guest musicians and vocalists grace the studio with their unique sound and flavor during the sessions. There’s alot more to share and some that I can’t let you in on quite yet because I’ve gotta save some surprises right? Needless to say I’m excited and reenergized in the making of Cali Love and really hope that you guys-my friends, family, fans and brothers and sisters in this lifetime, will be blessed by this project as things unfurl in these months leading up to the release.

Give Thanks Lyrics

      Give Thanks - The Ambassador

Once, twice, three times, I give thanks
Morning, evening and noon time, I give thanks

V1
What a beautiful morning, that I have been blessed with
I take a walk outside my door, and show love when and where I can
See there’s trials, tribulations, and times that test your patience
And there’ll always be more
My focus getting stronger now, I only want to grow

Once, twice, three times, I give thanks
Morning, evening and noon time, I give thanks

V2
I’m far from where I want to be
But I know I’ll surely run the race
Hope and faith in things unseen
Ohh I keep a steady pace
I pray all pride and lust would leave me
And all things self defeating
And I never look back
Spreading love around the workplace
A smile on a friend’s face
Defeating the enemies attack

Bridge
And I know, where I go, surely goodness and mercy will follow
And I’ll forgive the ignorant
They know not what they do nor how they live

Once, twice, three times, I give thanks
Morning, evening, noon time, I give thanks
Once, twice, three times, I give thanks
Morning, evening, noon time, I give thanks
Once, twice, three times, I give thanks
Morning, evening and noon time, I give thanks

Fighting Song Lyrics

      Fighting Song - The Ambassador
Lyrics:

(c) 2009 SG Lewis

This is what I know, oh yeah
Said this is what I know

See, I got problems, just like you
And I hold hatred in my heart for the evil deeds men do
But I’m not gonna be free, to learn, to build, to lead
So I gotta give it up to the Most High, He set me free

He said love, and peace shall be granted to thee
And patience that passes all understanding
Oh brothers we must search for these things

What we’re fighting for
It’s harder to love but you reap what you sow
Lets put some effort forth, ‘cause hatred stifles happiness and this is what I know
What we’re fighting for
It’s harder to love but you reap what you sow
Let’s put some effort forth ‘cause hatred stifles happiness and this is what I know
Yeah this is what I know, this is what I know

I turn on the news, the darkness builds
Overcome with anger at the greed of this world, my soul feels ill
But anger won’t win this fight
Two wrongs won’t make things right
I’m gonna seek a change like a blind man prays for sight

Love, and peace shall be granted to thee
And patience that passes all understanding
Oh brothers, we must search for these things
Oh sisters, we must thirst for these things

I know, I know it’s a hard road to follow
I know it takes time to build
I know, I know sometimes it’s a hard pill to swallow
And I know it takes time to build, it takes time to build

What we’re fighting for,
It’s harder to love, but you reap what you sow
Lets put some effort forth ‘cause hatred stifles happiness and this is what I know

Said what we’re fighting for, its harder to love, harder to love
Lets put some effort forth ‘cause hatred stifles happiness and this is what I know
Said what we’re fighting for, its harder to love, harder to love
Let’s put some effort forth ‘cause hatred stifles happiness and this is what I know (repeat)

Website Overhaul

A long overdue website re-design has been launched. I’m still in the process of working out the details, but am happy with the new design. I have a new store that will feature not only original Ambassador gear, but feature items for sale from local artists. Additional, I have expanded the music pages to include lyrics to all of my songs, as well as you-tube videos, recording variations and even some background to the writing.

I hope you enjoy the site and be sure to check back for updates, new releases and news about the upcoming album.

Peace!
